My Father and the War

Here is a childhood memory of mine: My dad makes me sit in a chair ,and gives me a lecture about how wrong it was to give back Sinai to the Egyptians . I'm not sure if the year is 1978 or later. At first I listen patiently ,but after what seems like eternity I give up ,and do whatever I can to escape. This episode repeats itself a few time . My poor father , a man in his 50's  tries to talk to people about something that is very painful for him . My mom gave up on hearing him talk about it again and again obsessively and then when it's my turn  I avoid him again. Eventually he ends up talking to himself .

My father  (born 1923) never spoke about what happened to him in the years 1943-1948 , but it is only now , four years after he went away I learn about the atrocities he experienced as a young man . The hour is late ,and I am tired , yet sleepless as usually , so I'll continue tomorrow. Thanks for being there.
